A graduate of Duke University and the University of Kansas School of Law, our founding attorney, Johnny Lok, ESQ, is currently licensed in Missouri, Kansas, Nebraska, Maine, Maryland, North Carolina, and Wisconsin, with additional state bar admissions actively in progress. He brings over seven years of focused legal experience to every client he serves.

Recognized as a Rising Star attorney, Johnny has successfully negotiated more than $20 million in debt settlements, delivering meaningful and lasting relief to over 4,000 clients.

Before founding Oasis Legal Group, Johnny built his career at one of the nation's leading consumer defense law firms, where he rose to the position of Supervising Attorney. In that role, he led a team of over 150 attorneys licensed across 48 states, along with paralegals and legal administrators. He oversaw complex cases from negotiation to litigation, collaborated with most leading vendors in the debt resolution industry, mentored legal professionals, and shaped the kind of high-standard practice culture he would later bring to his own firm.

 

That 48-state oversight experience gave Johnny something most law firms in this industry simply do not have: deep, hands-on experience with the individualized state compliance and regulatory issues that govern debt settlement work in every jurisdiction. From the heaviest standalone debt settlement statutes (Wisconsin, North Carolina, Minnesota, and beyond) to the Telemarketing Sales Rule and most recent consumer-protection enforcement and regulatory, the rules are not theoretical to him. They have been the daily reality of his courtroom practice.

At Oasis Legal Group, that experience is the backbone of our practice. We are a true litigation firm. We file the motions, take the depositions, and appear in court. As independent legal counsel,  We also conduct attorney-led phone consultations with enrolled consumers who become our legal clients, and attorney-led negotiations directly with creditors and opposing counsel, providing real attorney services, not facade representation, to debt settlement companies that need a defensible legal partner.

 

While Johnny is actively admitted to the bars of 7 states, with additional admissions and rapid expansion in progress, we also maintain established co-counsel relationships with attorneys admitted to practice in additional jurisdictions. When a matter arises in a state where Johnny is not directly admitted, representation in that state is conducted by an attorney who is admitted to practice in that state, in full compliance with applicable rules of professional conduct, providing reliable coverage for our partners and clients across additional jurisdictions when matters arise there.

Outside the practice, Johnny supports several cat sanctuaries and is a committed animal rescuer who believes every stray rescued makes the world a little better. A former nationally-ranked competitive swimmer, he also enjoys cruising the world to learn local history through museums and archives.
